ALPI Mentorship Pilot Project

ALPI launched the Pilot Mentorship Project with mentors from regional locations. These groups were made up of Lactation Professionals from that region to participate in group mentorship virtually. The program was held from April 2024 - August 2024 with a mentorship session with designated topics per month.

What is a mentoring session?

ALPI supports Lactation Professionals, working at various levels and different stages of the lactation profession. ALPI's mentoring sessions are customized to the lactation student's requirements. The mentor and the student will design a plan together, dedicated to the student's growth and support in the lactation field. These sessions can be both individual, group or topic based discussions.

ALPI Mentoring Session Goals:

To mentor Lactation Professionals in India with necessary lactation skills:
- Clinical, Practical, Collaboration and Research
To mentor aspiring IBCLCs and other advanced level Lactation Professionals.
To support Lactation Professionals who are passionate about learning and earning for their professional lactation services.
To increase the impact of the lactation profession across India.
To train with excellent knowledge, practice and skills.
To ensure ethical lactation practice and adherence to the WHO Code and IMS Act, without conflict of interest.
To grow in understanding of "ALPI Scope of Practice" and build your own support team in a referral based system.

What is the cost for mentoring sessions?
Mentoring sessions take time and dedication. Therefore, mentors should be compensated for their time with mentees (whether group or individual). Mentoring sessions are chargeable and based on the individual mentor's rates. A mentor is giving their time and consult window, so these mentoring services are chargeable.
